Testimonial

Stan Richards and his company, S & R Richards, have been handling the web site for our organization since its inception. They have done great work and are timely. In fact, Stan has done the design as well as most of the text and features.

Over the years, Stan has been very helpful and creative with his suggestions and initiatives. We are glad to recommend the web services of S & R Richards.

Sincerely,

Edmund F. Measom
President, CFHB

Before And After

In several cases, a web site that works, may not work well. The addition of a few key elements and graphics can make it work better. By using 3WC and IWA format standards the site is more usable to the public.

BEFORE:

Screen shot of the old CFHB site. Flow-chart of a hub site.

The screen shot above is of the opening/home page before we started to work on the site. Note the headline text color was implemented using a named font color. This color was in sharp contrast to the body of the pages textured background. This poorly chosen font was inconsistent throughout the site. Most of the graphics were in a JPG & BMP format. This made the page load into the browser slower. Site navigation was hinder by using the home page as an anchor or hub (see hub site graphic). The home page was a list of internal links to pages of the site. The user had to back step to the home page to go to another part of the site. This style of site is best suited for a static site. The club needed to change its content on a regular basis. This style of site could not implement new pages without the home page being altered each time. A more user friendly site was needed to make it easier to update and use.

AFTER:

Screen shot of the CFHB site.

The new site above is based on the frame architecture. The hub type of site was modified into a frame-formatted site (see the frame site graphic). This fundamental change improved navigation of the site over the previous format. Each of the sites departments are divided into department options that stay resident on the browser window. The visitor can easily navigate to the information quickly and direct from any page on the site. The incorporation of this navigation system also facilities the implementation of new pages linked into the site structure. The site took on a more themed look with the use of cascading style sheets (CSS). This was a major improvement over the former site.
